  • Week 37, Day 5

    My brother cracks me up.

He keeps asking if I have a more "specific date" on when the baby is due.   I keep telling him, the estimate date is 3/30, but it could come one or two weeks earlier or later... there's no way of knowing.

Last night he asks, can you get it down to 3 or 4 approximate days?   I emailed him back, "No one knows the exact date, it's like the rapture"

He writes back,  "No, it's not like the rapture. In the rapture, people disappear. In your case, people appears".

  • 28th week

Things I miss while being pregnant:

    1)  Sleeping through the WHOLE night without having to get up and pee:

I had no idea that pregnancy causes you urinate more frequently.  Sure, I've heard of morning sickness, swelling feet, back pains...but the urge to pee often??  Nope, never heard people mention that until I read about it in the books.  Apparently, there is pressure on the bladder as your uterus grows.  It's basically being smashed by the womb.  So EVERY night ever since I got pregnant, I've had to go to the bathroom at least once and sometimes, twice.  I can only remember two times when I have slept through the ENTIRE night without having to get up.

    2)  Being able to sleep on my back:

I can only sleep on my back but physicians recommend that a pregnant woman sleep on her side.  This has always been an uncomfortable position for me to sleep because either my shoulder, arms or ears will get numb.  They say that sleeping on your back while pregnant can create pressure on a major vein called the inferior vena cava.  This vein returns blood from the lower body to your heart.  This may lead to lightheadedness and/or numbness.  So it's a struggle for me to get a good night's rest because I have to force myself to sleep on my side, even though I'm not used to it.  But I do have the help of a Boppy pillow.

    3)  Shopping for clothes:

I can't do much clothes shopping now because I can't wear normal pants nor wear fitted shirts.  This time of the year is also the BEST time to buy because prices are so low and there are sales everywhere!!  Argh.....

    4)  And lastly...green tea boba:

It's not that I can't have any tea at all.  The doctor actually said that having tea or coffee in moderation is okay.  The key word is "moderation".  But I know it's best to not have any.  I have to admit though, I've had green tea boba just twice so far, and have drank some tea while in Japan.

Having said all that, there are things I will miss:  the feeling of your baby kicking in your tummy, friends & family sharing in your joy and loving your baby even before it is born, and Stephen kissing my belly every day and saying "Daddy loves you Audrey".

  • Babymooning....

We'll be going on our babymoon to Japan this coming Saturday!

I've been planning this trip since June (at least started looking into it) but haven't done much the past three months due to morning sickness and fatigue.    This week, I've been doing some final cramming...

    Still on my to-do list:

    1)  Subway info for Kyoto & Osaka
    2)  Find a church to attend in Osaka
    3)  List of must-see attractions in Tokyo

Our itinerary:  Tokyo (1-day), Kyoto (2-days), Nara (1-day), Osaka (2-days), Hiroshima (1-day), Tokyo (2-days).  We purchased the Japan Rail Pass which allows us to have unlimited usage of their bullet trains for 7-days.

We're still a little bit worried about the language barrier, since none of us speak Japanese.  Fortunately, Stephen purchased the "Lingolook Japan" app for his iPhone.   At least we can get by with important phrases...haha....
